On Sunday, December 5th, "Rev" Tom Shaughnessy presided over an Italian car gathering in San Juan Capistrano.
It was an impromptu meeting, arranged in less than 10 days by south Orange county Italian car lovers. The place is on a hill over looking the city of San Juan Capistrano, the Mission, and the San Diego Freeway. the building is the old Water District headquarters facility that "Rev" recently acquired.
There were about 25 cars in attendance, including three Lamborghini Miura's, several Maseratis and Alfas, as well as a bevy of Ferraris. Gary Roberts brought his 212, Bill LeMaster brought his 206 Dino and there were more late model cars. Over fifty people enjoyed a buffet lunch and "homemade" cookies. Inside the building (which was once a water tank!) were several pieces of Tom's vintage Ferrari stuff, such as a complete 250GT dash hanging on the wall over a crated 250 V-12 motor.
The sounds of all this great machinery arriving was something to hear, but nothing compared to the overview of the Freeway when all this Italian machinery left and got on the Freeway on ramp and accelerated up to speed!
A fun time was had by all. Watch the calendar of events, as there will be another gathering of the faithful later this year!
